AOW Suicide Prevention Night
Date/TimeDate: Friday, October 13, 2017
Time: 6:00 pm - 11:30 pm
The Empire Concert Club & Bar
For those of you who don’t know me, let me take a minute and let me tell you about myself. My name is Jaimy Alcorn and I have been dealing with depression since I was 12 years old. At that time I discovered self-harm, for 8 years, self-harm was the only friend I had. I had horrible self-esteem, I felt like I had no friends, no one to save me. I discovered a local band from New York called STEMM. They became who I consider my big brothers. They took time out of their busy lives to talk to me, and be there for me. Their music saved my life, and they became my best friends. Since then I have slowly learned to love myself, and have become more open about my past. I used to be ashamed of myself for what I had done. Not only to myself but everyone around me. Now I used it as a tool to help other people just like me. I look at my past as a learning experience for me. I tried so many times to end everything. But there were many times I had someone to show me that there was a light at the end of every tunnel. That is why I have decided to put on this event.
With this being said, let’s get to the details, shall we! 🙂
With my past experience dealing with depression, I decided to put this event on to raise awareness and hopefully help a few lost souls along the way. In this journey, I have decided to raise money for ANOTHER cause in hopes that we can spread the word as well.
As many of you know, 22 veterans a day commit suicide. It is my goal to not only help people just like me and you but to help the men and women who have served and are serving our country. I found a wonderful organization, whose goal is just that. To raise awareness and try to prevent veteran suicide. Their vice president is not only a veteran himself but also a good friend. That organization is called Save22Veterans.
We have a great lineup musicians planned for this evening. Which includes Kunipshunfit, Brothers At Arms, SYKOSIS and my brother from new york, AJ Jordan.
I have received donations to be auctioned off from my good friend, and veteran. I also have “Support our troops” rubber bracelets that I will be selling for $2 a piece. With 100% of ALL proceeds going to SAVE22Veterans.
I hope to see many of you there, and I will post more updates as they unravel.
