MC-1 is SAVE22’s Mobile Command Center and flagship vehicle for the organization. It is the combination of Big Red, a ‘99 Chevy truck and an 18’ Cross enclosed trailer.
Big Red is a custom built 1999 Chevy crew cab single rear wheel 3500. The mere presence of this truck will make your beard grow. Big Red rolled off the assembly line on Friday, March 22,1999 and was the only Victory red crew cab that day. Yes, confirmed by GM Heritage Foundation, Big Red’s birthday….. 3/22/99 That’s where the 22’s start. This truck was literally born for this mission. The truck is 22’ long, and rolled out as one half of MC-1 at 22 years old. It rides on 37” Goodyear military tires on a set of 22 year old Weld Racing Scorpios in the Lord’s pattern. The custom, one off Damian mud flaps were made by USA Flaps and are 22” long. The sick vinyl work was done by Pro Art Signs in Canton OH. Big Red is owned by SAVE22 Vice President John (JR) Gallon or Sasquatch to his peers.
The Merch Wagon, is a 100% custom built 2021 Cross 18’ car hauler supplied by Bennett Trailer out of Salem OH. The Merch Wagon was ordered with a color matched Victory Red boltless exterior, 7’ interior ceiling and two 4’x5’ sales windows on the left side. It then went to see the artists at Pro Art with Big Red. The #HAGS committee then set to work making man glitter and slinging paint building custom cabinets on the inside that just happen to have 22” wide doors and hold exactly 22 of each size and color shirt. Crowl Lumber, Crowl Interiors and Sherwin Williams supplied the materials at a discount or donation. Then Aaron Potts of Built by Pottsy stepped in with a custom hinge mount for the 25’ antenna mast that doubles as a flag pole. Meyer Coating made sure the mount wasn’t going to rust anytime soon. #HAGS members then set about running conduit around the inside to power the radio chargers, point of sale terminals and a beloved fan to keep the sales staff from cooking on those hot summer days out and about with our brothers and sisters. The amount of conduit used…. 22’ Also on the inside of the Merch Wagon is a remembrance wall that has 272 photos of heroes that have lost their fight with Damian. Those brave men and women are there to remind us why we’re in this fight. Also included in the gear we carry are two way radios, canopies for shade and private, one on one, onsite counseling.
A few more places that 22 pops up with MC-1;
Each sales window is held in with 22 screws
Total length of the trailer is 22’ just like the truck
There are 22 stars in the front decal on the trailer and truck
The first license plate expired 2/22
MC-1 started out as just a truck and trailer to get us and our gear out and about where we’re needed. It has become a symbol of hope for our brothers and sisters. They know they are not alone in their battle with Damian. It’s a truck and trailer that has become so much more…..
