June 6th, 1944. 2 months, 3 weeks, 3 days. 10,000+ casualties.
Just some of the numbers of our nation’s most infamous days, when allied forces arrived on the shores of Omaha Beach in Normandy, France during World War II.
The landings at Normandy is regarded as the largest seaborne invasion with nearly 5,000 troops landing and was a major turning point in the war.
Today we honor and remember all of our brothers and sisters who we either lost in combat never to return home, and those who returned home never to be the same and have since passed on. Because of their sacrifice, we enjoy the freedoms we have and the nation we call home. We are forever indebted to the countless service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and fought to protect our nation.
Today, we honor those who stormed the beaches of Normandy 80 years ago. #SAVE22 #DDay #honorandremember
