A New Era of Wellness for Carroll County and Beyond

the SAVE22 ® Wellness Center mission

MISSION

🧭 Our Mission

The SAVE22 Veterans Memorial Community Wellness Center is more than a building—it’s a promise to our veterans, first responders, and community. Our mission is to create a space where healing, wellness, and connection come together under one roof. This center will offer a holistic approach to health, combining physical fitness, mental health services, aquatic therapy, and community programming in a single, accessible location.

SAVE22, a nonprofit dedicated to preventing veteran suicide, is leading this transformation to ensure that those who served—and those who continue to serve—have a place to recover, grow, and thrive. This is not just a facility; it’s a legacy of care and commitment.

HISTORY

📜 History

In 1945, the Carroll County Veterans Club was founded with a vision of service and community. By 1972, that vision became reality with the construction of the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Pool—an Olympic-size facility built entirely through the donations and labor of local veterans and citizens. It served generations of families, offering swim lessons, school programs, and public access.

Over time, the facility aged and eventually closed. But its spirit never faded. Today, SAVE22 is restoring this historic site, honoring the legacy of those who built it while reimagining it for modern needs. The new center will preserve the original structure’s craftsmanship while introducing state-of-the-art wellness services for a new generation.

🚧 Overcoming Challenges

As with any meaningful mission, progress is not without its setbacks. Recently, several windows were vandalized—smashed during the same week that roof replacement was being completed. This act of destruction is not only disheartening, but also a costly and unplanned setback for our nonprofit.

SAVE22 has been working tirelessly to restore this historic facility—not just for veterans and first responders, but for the entire Carroll County community. Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming space that supports mental health, physical wellness, and community connection. Every step forward brings us closer to that vision.

We have filed a police report and are working with local authorities to identify those responsible. If you have any information, we encourage you to reach out. Please remember: this is private property owned by SAVE22 and an active construction site. Unauthorized access is both unsafe and unlawful.

Despite this challenge, our resolve remains strong. In our ten-year history, we’ve faced obstacles before—and we’ve overcome them with the support of our community. This is just one more hurdle on the path to building something truly transformative.
